HMI Youth Successfully Complete 2023 Queer Coders Program

Congratulations to our 2023 Queer Coders, who successfully wrapped up a 10-day program in August. We had 20 HMI youth members participate in this year’s program facilitated by Camp Maven and its youth leaders. The youth members mastered the fundamentals of coding and showcased their projects that included a video game they developed and the marketing strategy behind it. Their project assignments centered on a system impacting the LGBTQIA+ community, particularly youth and families. For many of the young participants, this was their first time to learn coding.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Moody’s, The Pinkerton Foundation and ConEdison for their commitment and continued sponsorship year after year. We would also like thank our amazing partner Maven Youth, as well as the tech hubs and corporate spaces around the city that hosted the sessions including Moody’s, Similarweb, Sirius XM/Pandora, Betterment, GrubHub, Adobe, and Evernorth/Cigna.
