For Families
Hetrick-Martin Institute provides on-site family counseling sessions for HMI members and their families by appointment at our NYC location. In addition to counseling sessions, HMI staff can also answer questions, offer advice, and suggest further resources to parents and family members of LGBTQIA+ youth. Every year, HMI hosts a family retreat where several of our youth members and their families get together for group activities and programs.
For more information on services for families contact Alayne Rosales, Senior Director, Youth Services.
For Organizations and Groups
With our advocacy work, we take our knowledge and expertise in youth service work to the greater community. The Center for LGBTQIA+ Youth Advocacy and Capacity Building of the Hetrick Martin Institute advocates on behalf of LGBTQIA+ youth by influencing policy on local, national and international levels, while helping to build the capacity of decision-makers, individuals, and institutions that serve LGBTQIA+ youth. We are dedicated to sharing best practices for working with LGBTQIA+ youth of color in all aspects of their life and to increase the capacity of youth-serving organizations to meet the specific needs of LGBTQIA+ youth nationally and globally.
We provide workshops, training, and evaluations for community-based organizations (CBOs), governmental agencies, companies, and other groups. Our facilitators deliver one-time or series-based sessions at your location or place of business.
Workshops and Training Sessions Include:
- Any Which Way You Go: Exploring Our Relationships to Human Sexuality and Gender Identity
