OUR IMPACT
Youth receive services each year from 38 states across the country. Programs include: Arts & Culture, Health & Wellness, Counseling, Education, and Job Readiness.
Hot meals served annually in our NYC located space. 21% of HMI youth members cite the need for food as a primary reason for coming to HMI.
Interactions with homeless youth each year by HMI’s outreach team, providing mental health screenings, emergency supplies, and resource referrals.
Individuals trained by HMI’s Center for Advocacy and Capacity Building. These include educators, service providers, administrators, and policy makers from across the county and around the world.
Community based organizations, government agencies, and NGOs partnering with HMI on initiatives ranging from direct services and youth events to advocacy and awareness campaigns.
Expanded Services
HMI provides services 6 Days a Week, Monday – Saturday. Services are free of charge all year round, including crucial summer months when schools and other programs are not in session.
Unique Expertise
HMI has been serving LGBTQIA+ youth since 1979, the longest history of any such organization in the US. We share our experience through program models, trainings, resources, and advocacy work.
Global Reach
HMI collaborates with young artists outside of the US such as the Young Vic theater in London to learn from one another.
