HMI’S ROBIN DRAKE NAMED YOUTH ACTIVIST GRAND MARSHAL FOR 2024 NYC PRIDE MARCH
We’re thrilled to announce that Robin Drake will be one of this year’s Youth Activists Grand Marshals for the NYC Pride March on June 30. Robin’s journey to this honor is marked by a dedication to advocacy and leadership, evident through their involvement in various initiatives. Previously serving as an HMI Peer Educator and participating in the Drag Camp internship, Robin has consistently been committed to fostering inclusivity and empowerment within their community.
Earlier this year, Robin further demonstrated their passion for activism by serving as the Youth Ambassador at the 15th Annual Stand Up for Recovery Day at the New York State Capitol. They are currently working with Friends of Recovery as a youth conference planning council member. Robin is dedicated to amplifying the voices of marginalized youth, particularly those lacking access to essential services.
Lauding Robin’s contributions, Lazara Paz-Gonzalez, HMI Senior Director of Youth Services, praises their exceptional engagement in various internships, notably the EYES (Engaging Youth Who Engage in Substances) Coalition. “Robin has been a rock-star with their engagement in various internships at HMI. Their advocacy work focusing on substance use among youth has left a lasting impact, earning them respect and admiration within the HMI community. We’re eagerly awaiting the opportunity to celebrate Robin’s achievements alongside the other grand marshals at the Pride March in June. Their indelible contributions serve as an inspiration to us all as we continue to strive for a more inclusive and compassionate society. Congratulations, Robin, on this well-deserved recognition!”
