As we commemorate our remarkable 45-year journey, HMI aims to raise $45,000. These funds will be dedicated to empowering our young people—many who face hardships and/or financial constraints—to pursue further education post-graduation. Your contribution helps pave the way for queer and trans youth to focus on their academic and career growth, rather than burdens that may otherwise hinder their path to success.

Take, for instance, Luis Guaman, a shining star among HMI scholarship recipients. As a first-generation college student and American, Luis discovered his advocacy voice by actively participating in local food kitchens and clothing drives. His commitment transcends borders, reflecting in his participation in the United Nations COP 24 conference on an international stage. A proud alumnus of the College of Staten Island, Luis is currently pursuing his Master of Social Work (MSW) at Hunter College. His journey exemplifies how your support empowers young individuals like him to give back, fostering a cycle of support for LGBTQIA+ youth facing similar challenges.
