REMEMBERING RON SIMONS, FORMER HMI BOARD MEMBER

We are deeply saddened by the passing of former HMI Board Member Ron Simons. Renowned for his exceptional work on stage and screen, Ron was a trailblazer in the Black and LGBTQIA+ communities. Many admired him for his brilliance as a four-time Tony Award-winning producer and actor, but his legacy extends far beyond his artistic achievements.

Ron was a passionate advocate for empowering and uplifting marginalized communities, particularly Black and LGBTQIA+ individuals. He served on our Board of Directors from 2016 to 2019 and co-chaired the 2019 Emery Awards, where his dedication and enthusiasm left an indelible mark. His unwavering commitment to promoting equality and diversity made a lasting impact on our organization and beyond.

Ron Simons will be remembered not only for his remarkable talent but also for his tireless efforts to champion equality and inclusivity. He will be greatly missed.
