Central to Edie’s legacy was her belief in young people, and in serving them. She believed that we must ensure that every LGBTQ young person gets all of the support and opportunity they deserve, in a world that too often has cast them aside or derided them for who they are.
Today I am honored to announce a $50,000 Edie Windsor Legacy Match at HMI. Edie always wanted to make sure more of us engaged in protecting our LGBTQ youth. Every gift you make before the end of the year will be matched dollar for dollar.
Edie used to say she had a love affair with the LGBTQ community, working for our LGBTQ young people her entire life. And even now she is spurring us to action.
We felt incredibly connected to the wonderful youth members at HMI, who flourish because of the many programs HMI offers. These programs can only be offered because you and I step up to support them.
Edie was fiercely committed to collaboration among LGBTQ youth providers. It is precisely HMI’s collaborative model that enables it to bring critical services to the young people who need them most. We must support these efforts to empower, educate and advocate LGBTQ youth. Please join me in donating to HMI before the year ends. Your support is the greatest way you can honor Edie’s legacy.
Happy holidays and thank you,
Judith Kasen-Windsor
