Rob’s Story
I was 16 years old – living with my grandparents and came out to my sister and my mom. They already knew, which was comforting but my grandparents didn’t know and when my mom told them – things went south. My grandfather who was very ill at the time thought it would be best if I moved out. He couldn’t understand or support my sexual orientation. The rest of my family was cool about it, I mean who are they to judge… we all have skeletons in our closets. Thankfully I was able to move in with my mom, continue high school and live my life. Since then, 15 years later, my grandparents have come a long way, they treat my husband as if he’s their own grandson. It’s quite special to see change in your family after you come out, it really does get better. ❤️
