Friends of HMI Monthly Giving
Your support as a Friend of HMI monthly donor helps provide our young people with access to not only mental health services, but to basic needs such as toiletries and clothing, to social services, and to education, workforce development and arts & culture programming. No monthly contribution is too small.
Donor Advised Funds (DAFs)
Your Donor Advised Fund can be a lifeline—recommend a grant to Hetrick-Martin Institute and help provide critical services to LGBTQIA+ youth. The most common DAF organizations include Fidelity Charitable, DAFgiving360, Vanguard Charitable, and National Philanthropic Trust.
Planned Living
HMI will work with each individual to create a personalized road map of donation opportunities throughout their life through our Planned Living initiative.
Employer Match
Did you know many companies offer a matching gift program to encourage philanthropy among their employees? And that some companies will even match to spouses and retirees? By simply completing a matching gift form, you may be able to double, or even triple, the impact of your gift! Contributions of any amount help support LGBTQIA+ youth all year round. Volunteer Grants
Many companies offer volunteer grants, turning your time and effort into tangible funds for the causes you care about. These programs encourage employees to volunteer in their communities by providing monetary grants to organizations where they regularly give their time. Support our Pantry
The pantry at Hetrick-Martin Institute is open to all HMI members and provides everyday essentials like clothing, shoes, ready-to-go meals, and hygiene products. Pantry resources (clothes, hygiene products) and services (laundry, shower facilities) are offered everyday that HMI is open. Learn more
Online Shopping
Support LGBTQIA+ youth when you shop online through services such as iGive.com, GivingAssistant, and Humble Bundle. Select Hetrick-Martin Institute as your charity of choice and a portion of your purchase will be donated to HMI automatically.
Peer-to-Peer Fundraising

Dr. Joyce Hunter Living Legacy Fund
Dr. Joyce Hunter is a legend. One of the founding members of HMI’s Board of Directors and a fierce advocate for LGBTQIA+ young people for more than 40 years, she has mentored and supported HMI’s leadership since the beginning. In her honor, we launched the Dr. Joyce Hunter Living Legacy Fund.
Perry Moore Hero Fund
The Perry Moore Hero Fund is an artistic scholarship that celebrates literature’s ability to inspire and have a positive impact in the lives of young people. The Perry Moore Hero Fund will award college scholarships annually to young writers who best express stories of understanding, tolerance and strength within the LGBTQIA+ community.
