Counseling Services

We have a diverse group of clinicians ranging from Drama Therapists, Art Therapists, and Social workers and across identities like Bipoc, Queer, and Trans+.  Email counseling@hmi.org or call 212-674-2400

• On-call counseling appointments are 30-minute, first-come-first-serve appointments with set counselors for that day.

• Sessions are offered every day M-F from 3:30 -7:00 and to schedule an appointment you can either reach out to counseling@hmi.org to schedule ahead or call 212-674-2400 to schedule the day of. Our staff will let you know the counselors’ availability.

• We can do on-call appointments either virtually or in person at 2 Astor Place, 3rd Floor and typically have times every weekday from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

HMI offers a number of health services in-house:

• HIV/STI Consulting and Linkage to Care
• HRT Referrals
• PrEP/PEP referrals
• Vision referrals
• Medical referrals, including specialists (if client has insurance)
• Links throughout HMI’s scope of services.

Pantry and Shower Services

HMI’s pantry is open Monday–Friday from 3:30–7:30 pm. Shower appointments are part of your pantry visit.

Shower visits last 30 minutes total:

• 15 minutes for pantry access
• 15 minutes for your shower

Sign-up is first come, first served at the front desk. Two shower slots are available each day.

Shower hours: Monday–Friday, 3:30–6:30 pm

Laundry Services

Laundry is available Monday–Friday from 3:30–5:00 pm and is first come, first served. Appointments must be made at the front desk.

There are two appointments available per day, with one load per person (bedding counts as one load), so please plan ahead.

Laundry schedule:

• First load: 3:30 pm
• Second load: 4:30 pm

Important notes:

• Please arrive early
• You must start your load before 4:30 pm
• Clothes may not be left in the dryer overnight
• Empty all pockets before using machines
• Please do not move the machines
