FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HETRICK-MARTIN INSTITUTE APPOINTS AMY HARCLERODE AS CEO
New York, NY, November 21, 2023 – In a landmark announcement last Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the Hetrick-Martin Institute (HMI) annual Emery Awards fundraiser, Co-Chairs of the HMI Board of Directors, Josh Saterman and Dom DiPasquale, officially shared with guests the appointment of Amy Harclerode as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HMI.
In April 2023, Amy took on the role of Interim CEO. Since assuming this position, she has steered HMI with visionary leadership, overseeing its expansion and innovation in direct response to the mental health crisis disproportionately affecting queer and trans youth of color. Amy’s journey with HMI began in 2017, when she joined as the organization’s inaugural Chief Development Officer. In that role, she has driven remarkable revenue growth, which has significantly bolstered support for youth programming as well as advocacy and capacity-building initiatives.
Board Co-Chair DiPasquale said, “The board conducted an extensive and thorough review of the Chief Executive Officer job description, the responsibilities associated with the position, the unique demands placed on HMI, and the organization’s strategic needs for the future. Throughout this process, it was abundantly clear that Amy Harclerode possessed the qualities and expertise essential to lead HMI into its next chapter.”
“In her capacity as interim CEO, Amy demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the mission and vision of HMI, steering the organization with a combination of passion and strategic acumen,” Board Co-Chair Saterman added. “We are confident that her vision, leadership, and deep-rooted connection to HMI’s mission will propel the organization to new heights. We extend our deepest congratulations to Amy and express our gratitude for her continued dedication to Hetrick-Martin.”
Amy Harclerode remarked, “I am truly honored, humbled, and eager to embrace the responsibilities that come with this new role as CEO. HMI has been at the forefront of empowering LGBTQIA+ young people for more than four decades, and I’m excited to guide it through the next phase of its impactful journey. I’m grateful for the trust placed in me by the Board of Directors and for the opportunity to contribute to the organization’s transformative work. I look forward to working collaboratively with the incredible people at HMI to build on our successes and address the challenges ahead. I am confident that together, we will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of queer and trans youth.”
