ABOUT OUR PRIDE THEME
This year we’re celebrating PRIDE with a simple message that encourages our young people to live their authentic lives and empowers them to thrive. Our “PROUD TO SAY” campaign is intended to reassure all LGBTQIA+ youth that it’s perfectly okay to PROUDLY exclaim who they are and how they identify. This year’s theme—in response to anti-LGBTQ+ legislation like the “Don’t Say Gay” bill in Florida—is our way of communicating that we cannot and will not be silenced. This PRIDE month we proudly share how we identify in a collective force that demonstrates the strength and passion of the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies.
JOIN THE CAUSE
The LGBTQIA+ community and its allies have been fighting for more than five decades to protect our rights, as part of the gay rights movement fueled by the 1969 Stonewall Riots. Every June we celebrate the victories and advancements toward equality.
This year, at a time when queer youth are being targeted across the country, we hope you will join us in celebrating PRIDE with the same vigor and tenacity as LGBTQIA+ activists and allies of previous generations. You can participate by uploading a 10-15 second video sharing that you’re “Proud to say I’m (fill in your own words)” however you identify. All videos are reviewed and may be used in HMI’s communications including the HMI website, email, YouTube channel, and/or social media.
SUPPORT QUEER YOUTH
There are many ways to support LGBTQIA+ young people—donate, volunteer, march or even show your pride with a short video. You can also DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT this Pride. All donations in the month of June will be matched up to $30,000 by our partner, PARC Foundation.
