Sensory Inclusivity Space: Trial Sessions
February 22 @ 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm
HMI is soft-launching our new sensory room using our new mobile sensory cart! Members will be able to access the sensory room as we conduct trial runs to ensure we build a steady foundation to support the HMI community. Sign-ups to use the room will take place in person on 2/22 and 2/29 at the front desk, where members can sign up for 30-minute slots anytime between 4-7 PM.
Sensory rooms exist to provide a space for folks to regulate, process, and explore sensory information in ways that feel safer, fun, and empowering. Our room and mobile cart contain several sensory items (fidgets, essential oils, weighted blanket, etc.) to engage members with their senses to use as coping tools when feeling overstimulated or understimulated in everyday life.
