This is a defining moment for LGBTQIA+ youth—and for all of us who believe in their right to thrive. HMI’s groundbreaking initiative is reducing suicide risks, expanding access to life-saving mental health services, and advocating for sustainable support systems. Help us reach our $300,000 goal to expand access to life-saving care.
A COMPREHENSIVE MODEL FOR SUCCESS
HMI integrates mental health and wellness programs with wraparound services to address the whole person. By meeting critical needs like housing, education, job readiness, and leadership development, we create a foundation for long-term success.
SCALING MENTAL HEALTH CARE NATIONWIDE
Our most ambitious initiative yet is expanding access to affirming mental health care for LGBTQIA+ youth of color. Through partnerships with CenterLink and HealthRight International, HMI is equipping organizations across New York State and beyond with the tools to implement this life-saving care.
OUR INNOVATIVE SOLUTION
We help youth-serving organizations provide effective, affirming mental health care by:
- Codifying a replicable model based on LGBTQIA+ youth input,
- Training and resourcing youth-serving organizations to implement it,
- Evaluating impact to refine approaches, and
- Advocating for policies that ensure sustainable funding.
For 45 years, HMI has been a leader in serving LGBTQIA+ youth, particularly those facing economic hardship, homelessness, and systemic discrimination. Our trauma-informed and liberation-based care empowers young people to thrive socially, academically, and professionally. HMI is uniquely positioned to lead this movement, with:
- Proven reductions in anxiety and depression among LGBTQIA+ youth of color.
- Over 40 years of success delivering comprehensive, evidence-based support.
- A holistic model that drives long-term, systemic change.
