Congratulations to Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal

On behalf of everyone at HMI, we are delighted to congratulate Brad Hoylman-Sigal on his election as the next Manhattan Borough President. His victory marks an historic milestone. He becomes the first openly LGBTQ person to hold this role in Manhattan. His longstanding record of public service and legislative achievements have prepared him well for this important office, and we look forward to his leadership in the borough.

We’re particularly inspired by his clear commitment to the well-being of queer and trans youth as a top priority. In his victory remarks, he emphasized the urgency of supporting LGBTQ homeless youth, addressing disparities in poverty and access to gender-affirming care, and ensuring that young people see themselves in positions of influence and possibility. At HMI, where our events and programs often bring together emerging voices and community leaders, we value that shared focus. We are excited about the opportunity to collaborate with his office to uplift LGBTQIA+ youth, promote safe and inclusive spaces, and expand pathways for meaningful civic engagement.
