Training & Capacity Building (T-CAP)

Empowering Communities to Better Serve LGBTQIA+ Youth

As LGBTQIA+ leaders and thought partners, HMI’s Training and Capacity Building (T-CAP) team is committed to strengthening individuals, organizations, and communities across New York. Through comprehensive learning initiatives, we help foster  environments that celebrate diversity, advance equity, and build lasting support for LGBTQIA+ individuals—especially those from underserved and marginalized communities.

Our Core Values:

  • Deliver comprehensive learning opportunities
  • Center lived experiences
  • Champion intersectional approaches
  • Ensure accessibility and inclusion

Our Work:

Interactive Trainings: We offer research-informed, interactive sessions that share best practices and proven program models for supporting LGBTQIA+ youth. These trainings are designed for youth and adults, including youth service providers and parents.

Customized Solutions: Through tailored trainings, technical assistance, and organizational assessments, we equip participants with actionable strategies while uplifting LGBTQIA+ youth voices to drive meaningful change in systems and policies.

Building Capacity: By promoting safer training spaces and fostering expansive understandings of gender identity and sexuality, HMI empowers professionals across disciplines to replicate, scale, and sustain effective models—ensuring accessible, affirming services for all LGBTQIA+ youth.
