Hello beautiful youth,

I am writing this letter to all of you to know that you have ansupportive "ate" (pronounced as ah-teh) (Tagalog for big sister) all across the Philippines cheering and rooting for all of you. I love you for who you guys are and I want you to know that you are accepted and loved.

Your futures are bright, so don't be afraid to be brave, bold, and true to yourselves. As Lady Gaga wisely sang, "I've had enough, I'm not a freak, I just keep fighting to stay cool in the streets." Remember, in your ate's eyes, you are beautiful young individuals with immense potential.

Keep shining your unique light and strive to make a positive difference in the world. I believe in each of you and your ability to create a better future.

Happy Pride 2025!

Stay strong and keep being amazing!

With love and support,
Your Ate Aubrey

To every LGBTQIA+ young person out there: you are not “too much” or “not enough”, you are just right. The way you love, express, dream, and exist is something the world truly needs. It’s okay if you’re still figuring things out. Life isn’t a race, it’s more like a weird little dance, and you get to choose the moves. Find your people, wear what makes you feel good, take up space, and never dim your light to make others comfortable. You deserve joy, safety, and the freedom to be your full, radiant self. We’re cheering you on, always! 🌈

The community is huge and we are here to protect each other. so stay strong and please remember having hope. Hope that everything changes, hope that tomorrow will be better <3

Hey you! Just a quick reminder that who you are is exactly who you’re meant to be. The world can feel loud and confusing sometimes, but there’s something incredibly powerful about showing up as yourself: loud, quiet, sparkly, chill, or anything in between. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You’re allowed to grow, change, and take your time. There’s a whole world of people out here rooting for you, celebrating you, and walking this path beside you. You are loved, needed, and never alone. Keep being your beautifully unique self, we’re better because of it. 💛

Dear LGBTQIA+ Community,

I may not fully understand the journey each of you walks. I don’t know all the struggles, the fears, or the victories. But what I do know—and want to say clearly—is that I deeply admire the courage it takes to be who you are, with honesty and pride.

You teach the world every day about the power of love, freedom, and authenticity. I’m here, with an open heart, wishing that every person feels safe, respected, and happy being exactly who they are.

I'm hoping this letter finds you confident in and proud of who you are. But if not, I hope you can take comfort knowing that realizing those goals is more about the journey than the destination. We all have times when we lose faith in ourselves and who we are, but knowing there are people who love you as you are has always helped me find my center. Whatever you're going through, I hope you can find that same peace for yourself. I've never even met you, but I'm proud of you, and I hope you are too!

Whenever a friend or family member is feeling bad or nervous about something, I always tell them the solution is to be 110% themselves and follow their instincts. I try to take my own advice when I feel that way too.

I hope you are always 110% yourself today and forever!

To the LGBT+ Youth community,

I’m writing with great affection to express my love and respect for each person who chooses to live with authenticity, courage, and truth.

I know there are still many challenges along the way, and I want to reaffirm my commitment as an ally in the fight for equality, respect, and dignity.

Every form of love and identity deserves to be celebrated and protected.

May pride be, every day, a gesture of freedom, resistance, and love.

I stand with you — today and always.

Hi, wonderful person,

Maybe we’ll never meet, but I want you to know I’m writing this letter with all the love in the world — because I truly understand what it’s like to be in this place. I’ve also gone through tough times, when all I wanted was to be embraced, heard, and loved just as I am.

That’s why this opportunity to write to you is so special to me. I really wish I had received words like these when I needed them… and today, being able to tell you that you are not alone is a huge gift.

You are strong, even when you feel you’re not. You are amazing, even if you don’t fully see that yet. And most importantly: you deserve all the good things this world has to offer.

If you ever need it, even from afar, know that you can count on me. There is someone here who believes in you, roots for you, and is sending a big, tight hug full of love and pride. A big kiss from here to the universe — a little kiss and a wish that you become a wonderful person. Wishing you success!

With love,
Savier Betancourt

I hope you know that there are many adults in your town, in your state, and across the world who support you. If the people in your own home cannot provide that support, we are here. If they have already let you down, we are here. If you feel unsafe, we are here.

My life has been made richer by the many contributions of LGBTQ+ artists and creative people. As a cis straight woman, my heart has been opened by these works, and I see the clear throughlines between us. When you cry, so do I. When you sing, I join in.

I send you the deepest gratitude for simply existing. You ARE power.

Hi There! I'm Jessie and I used to be an HMI Youth just like you! I was confused, lost, and thought there were no support systems in place for me, a queer young woman, until I found HMI. The programs, staff and internships at HMI changed the course of my life and my career and gave me the confidence, tools, and resources I needed to pursue my Bachelor's, my Master's and a successful career in the nonprofit sector, where I am a director-level leader. I also made met some amazing mentors and made lifelong friends. About a decade or so later, I can truly say it does get better!

To the LGBTQIA+ youth, I would like to tell you this:

Some people in our world are afraid of what they don’t understand. So, they buy into, make up, and spread stories that confirm those fears. Whether that be the fear your gender, who you choose to love, or how you merely exist next to them… it may challenge their beliefs and bring out their worst. But I assure you, their fears are not your responsibility. It’s theirs to manage. Your responsibilities are to be true, kind and honest with yourself, and sharing that strength with others. But remember are not alone. There are also people in this world who want to see others thrive, and want to see our world and communities grow together, embrace love, new ideas, break old barriers and move forward. Your truth and honesty inspire me to look deeply into the world I am creating for my family and community, and ensure that the ground I build on is fertile with love, inclusivity, encouragement, respect.

I just wanted to start off saying to everyone reading this that you are beautiful, you are smart, you are you, and you matter. We're all beautiful and unique in our own ways and what makes you the beautiful person you are. There's no such thing as normal and there is definitely no such thing as basic because if that was the case, this world would be so boring. The LGBTQ+ community is where l've found the most help, support, and resources. I found a place where / can be myself and not feel like / don't matter. To everyone reading this, don't ever feel like you don't belong or like you can't be you. Be yourself wherever you are. Don't ever feel scared or nervous to ask for help, get resources or anything. We are a family in the LGBTQ+ community and we will stand together and love and support everyone.
Have a blessed day and stay you.

I love you, I love you, I love you, because after going through so much myself and learning from my peers and creative media about the ongoing movements for acceptance, the healing nature of love notes becomes clear, and while they cannot solve everything, especially gender-based oppression and institutional discrimination, I would have loved some for my own in my darkest moments and offer up all the rays of sunshine, clear skies, and warm hugs possible if it will heal your tender heart and help you be heard.

Hi, My name is Ellie and I live in New York. I moved here specifically for the queer community, that has been my number one priority the last few years. There is so much uncertainty right now, and I often feel so angry at the US, and I fear for my rights (which is ridiculous. Fearing for rights should be a 1700s issue, not a 21st century thing). / know that you feel similarly to me, I know we all feel this way. But at least we all feel this way, we have community. I am leaning into my community now more than ever, finding ways to be involved, and finding platonic love where I can find it. I hope you can do the same, and that we can ride this out through our supportive friendships. I'm rooting for you and it's going to be ok, because queer people have made it this far! ♥️
Thinking of you!

You are incredible, and I hope you know this. In a world that sometimes tries to tell us who we should be, you are bravely and beautifully being yourself, and that takes immense courage.
Your journey of self-discovery and understanding your identity is a powerful and important one. Please know that you are not alone. There is a whole community of people out there who understand, support, and celebrate you for exactly who you are.
It's okay if things feel confusing or challenging sometimes.
Navigating your teenage years is tough enough, and figuring out your identity can add another layer. Be patient and kind to yourself. Allow yourself the space to explore and learn who you are without judgment. Remember that your feelings are valid, and your identity is something to be proud of. You deserve to be loved, respected, and accepted for everything that makes you unique.

I'd like you to know that you are seen, you are loved, and you are powerful beyond measure. In a world that sometimes forgets your worth, I want to remind you that you are irreplaceable. Your journey is uniquely yours, and your courage to be your true self inspires so many others, whether they show it or not.
Never doubt the beauty of who you are. You bring something to this world that only you can offer, and the world is better for having you in it. Even on the tough days, remember that there are countless people who stand beside you, holding you in love and support. You are never alone. With all my love and admiration, Someone who believes in you

Love and bravery cannot be taken away and you are equipped with both. As I see the queer community online and in my life lift each other up, I am inspired by your resilience and community. It is painful to watch the human rights violations take place on screen and my heart goes out to you for enduring extra grief during this terrible time.
I am proud of you and I love you. You have a reason to live on and inspire others.

Joshua,
I wished for you and there you were. You have been teaching me about life since the day you were born. Lucky me! Keep your light bright. Happy Valentine's Day to my forever Valentine!

It's not your job to make people understand you. What people think about you is none of your business. People should believe you when you tell them who you are, and if they don't, that's on them. You deserve better. You deserve joy and peace. You deserve to be fully accepted, but beyond that you deserve to be celebrated and truly seen. You deserve unqualified support. You are enough, just as you are, and the world is full of people who want to lift you up and keep you safe.

I write this letter with the utmost respect, admiration, and gratitude for all that you are all that you have done. In a world that too often demands conformity and simplicity, your courage in living authentically has not only illuminated the vast spectrum of human identity but has also paved the way for countless others to embrace their true selves.
It takes an extraordinary amount of strength to live a life true to who you are when society may resist, challenge, or question that truth. Your resilience, determination, and bravery are a constant reminder of the power of self-actualization and the importance of embracing our fullest, most authentic expressions of identity. You are changing the world, and for that, I am deeply grateful.
With deep respect and solidarity...

To the LGBTQIA+ youth, I stand with you. I will fight for you.
Times are crazy and scary but know that there are so many people who love and support you and will fight with all their power to keep you safe. I am so lucky to have close family and friends that are a part of community. I know that it may feel impossible right now but it gets better. While people in our government may devalue or completely discredit your existence, know there are so many people who will not and will fight. Nothing I can say will fix this grave injustice, but I want everyone to know that while there is so much hate directed at your community by government and people, there are so many people that deeply love. Love will unite us and love will win!

Dearest Queers,
You have always existed, you will continue to exist, and your existence is real and valid. We will continue to be in love with all of you and fight for the love you represent in this existence. Hold your heads high and let others bow to you for the amazingness of your existence. Continue to harness the power of you and continue to share your glowing light in the darkest corners.

The most important thing for you to learn in life is to love you. You are loved and admired by many. I strongly believe that those who don't feel this way are very unhappy in their own hearts. They are to be pitied for their ignorance and sadness. It doesn't matter who you love as long as there is love and happiness in your life-which I pray for.
Have a wonderful Valentine's Day and remember-always love you. I do!

To our brothers and sisters of all ages-us united is everything. You can't break the strong bond. It's all deflection and rhetoric. Stay away from the news, be about your community. We've got this and this needed to happen. They have to fix something that has been broken for so long! We have gone through worse and now we're coming out on the other side, bigger, stronger, better and more united. Keep the faith, stay strong. All of my blessings, love and light. 🙏🏾 XO
