Alexandria Thylane
She/Her
Alexandria is a philosopher, technologist, startup strategist, and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. After nearly a decade in tech—including software engineering roles at Reddit and Apple—her public transition inspired a shift toward deeper philosophical inquiry into mind, identity, and technology. Alexandria’s current research integrates philosophy of mind, cognitive science, and gender theory. She critically examines gendered artificial intelligence (AI), transgender embodiment, and 4E cognition, proposing a novel theory of gender identity and interrogating the ethics and biases inherent in AI representations of gender. Committed to community support and advocacy, Alexandria educates NYC-area students and faculty through PFLAG’s Safe Schools program and actively engages in efforts to build and strengthen the LGBTQ+ community
